Watching from Banbury. What a fabulous idea. Gentlemen, push your pawns!
Admin
Excellent! At least on board 5 they are starting to heed your advice, Carl!
Richard Croot
Nb5! is a strong move from Nigel. White is winning now.
Admin
Very neat indeed. Very entertaining game!
Richard Croot
Board two White is doing well. Richard has to be careful e.g. Rd6 runs into Nxe5!! with back rank threats.
Admin
Yep, looked like White might be winning on all boards earlier, although Tiago had at least equalised I felt. Not sure about that any more, but a Rook and Pawn ending with the amount of time Phil has remaining is likely to be tricky. Board 5 has also gone absolutely mental, looked like Matthew was in control earlier. Definitely a good match for the live boards to make their debuts in!
Richard Croot
White should be winning on board 2 now
Admin
Feel like Wellington are better on all boards to me. 3 looks like it still has drawish tendencies, though.
Admin
Congratulations to Telepost – somehow!
Steve Szwajkun
Excellent idea and an enjoyable watch, Chelsea on the radio at the same time.
Keith Tabner
Congratulations to everyone involved in putting on this most entertaining chess event. It was like watching a who-dunnit – full of twists and turns with a surprise sting in the tale. Wellington were clearly winning but in the last few minutes somehow snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Wow ! Now follow that !
