This year’s Cox Trophy final takes place at the Wrekin Housing Trust in Telford on Thursday 14th June 2018 at 7:30pm.  Sadly, Church Stretton have been unable to field a team and so the Minor Knockout final won’t occur alongside the Cox.  The links below will go live once the event starts.

    Board two White is doing well. Richard has to be careful e.g. Rd6 runs into Nxe5!! with back rank threats.

      Yep, looked like White might be winning on all boards earlier, although Tiago had at least equalised I felt. Not sure about that any more, but a Rook and Pawn ending with the amount of time Phil has remaining is likely to be tricky. Board 5 has also gone absolutely mental, looked like Matthew was in control earlier. Definitely a good match for the live boards to make their debuts in!

      Feel like Wellington are better on all boards to me. 3 looks like it still has drawish tendencies, though.

    Congratulations to everyone involved in putting on this most entertaining chess event. It was like watching a who-dunnit – full of twists and turns with a surprise sting in the tale. Wellington were clearly winning but in the last few minutes somehow snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Wow ! Now follow that !
